Dali, cradled between the majestic Cangshan Mountains and shimmering Erhai Lake, is a timeless destination where history, nature, and local culture entwine gracefully. A well-designed itinerary of about 3–4 days allows you to fully savor its charm without rushing, inviting you into a lyrical journey through Yunnan’s heart.

Three-Day Itinerary for Dali

Day 1: Stroll Through Dali Ancient Town & Visit the Three Pagodas

Start your adventure in Dali Ancient Town, a living museum of Bai culture. Wander narrow lanes lined with centuries-old houses, explore lively markets, and taste regional specialties at local eateries.
Next, head to the iconic Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple, standing watch for over a thousand years. Wander through the serene temple grounds and admire the ancient architecture set against the backdrop of the Cangshan peaks.

Day 2: Cycle Along Erhai Lake & Discover Xizhou Ancient Town

Devote your day to exploring Erhai Lake, Dali’s glistening “ear-shaped” jewel. Choose a leisurely boat ride or a scenic cycling route that skirts the lakeshore, revealing quiet fishing villages and endless mountain reflections.
Later, visit Xizhou Ancient Town, known for its intricate Bai-style architecture and bustling morning market. Explore the grand Yan Family Courtyard and learn about the Bai people’s daily rhythms and traditions.

Day 3: Journey to Shaxi Ancient Town & Enjoy Sunset in Shuanglang

Travel to Shaxi Ancient Town, once a vital stop on the Tea Horse Road. Stroll through Sideng Square, visit ancient temples, and soak up the town’s timeless tranquility.
In the evening, make your way to Shuanglang Village on the northeast shore of Erhai Lake. With its artistic flair and breathtaking sunsets, this lakeside gem offers the perfect finale to your Dali journey. Relax at a lakeside café or explore the hidden art studios as golden light dances over the water.
